A custom painted artist resin medallion.
This is the “Rise” Medallion, sculpted by Rayvin Maddock and painted by me to a dappled Grey, with artist quality pastels and acrylics. He was finished in multiple coats of UV protecting clearcoat.
This piece had me all up in my feels. Everytime I worked on it I started thinking about how damn hard it is right now, for so many in the world. So, the back story I have pictured in my mind is, a younger stallion, alone and struggling in the world, who gets challenged by an older, mature herd stallion. Even though the younger stallion didn’t pick this particular fight, he gives it all he has - physically and emotionally. Alas, he just cannot compete with the herd stallion who seems to have it all: status, charisma, brawn and brains and a large devoted family.
So yes, the younger inevitably loses the fight and is beaten down…
yet he rises and with his resilience he will once again find his feet and face another challenge.
