An Original Finish Breyer Model Set from my Personal Collection.
The Messenger Series, based on the small dun factor mustangs of Spanish descent, that Breyer brought out in 1994, was game changing for Breyer and its relationship with these feral herds. The series of models, sculpted by renowned wildlife artist Rowland Cheney, really set Breyer apart from other model manufacturers as it began an association to the Kiger mustangs in the American Southwest and the charitable organizations that aid in the support of these herds, that Breyer enjoys to this day.
This set of the Fighting stallions Mesteno and Sombra, started it all. Mesteno the dark dun, older stallion has to protect his herd from the younger grulla stallion, Sombra. The set was released through QVC and was a limited edition set of 504.
This 1994 set is in Very Good condition and has been displayed only. No Box.
